Data cleaning services, or a tool your team runs whenever the file arrives
Data cleaning services take your file, clean it off site, and send it back. That is a reasonable answer for a one-time migration with an unusual shape. It is an expensive answer for a job that comes back every quarter with a new export.
Load a messy sample and watch it work
The same engine described below, running on your own machine. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is applied until you approve it.
1. Load a file
Your file is read on your own machine. Nothing is uploaded, so nothing can leak.
Or start from a messy sample

Duplicate clusters
Merge or keep both
Want this on bigger files, on a schedule, with your team?
Saved recipes, scheduled cleans and shared seats are part of the paid plans. Start with your email and we will send you a code.
3. Take the result
The downloads work without an email. The cleaned CSV contains only the changes you approved.
What you are actually buying from a service
You are buying time and judgment. Someone else looks at your file, decides what a duplicate means in your business, and applies it consistently. For a complicated one-off, that is worth paying for.
The costs are the ones nobody quotes: the round trip while you wait, the data leaving your control, and the fact that the knowledge of how the file was cleaned leaves with the vendor. Next quarter the same file arrives and you start again.
When software is the better buy
The job repeats
Monthly exports, campaign lists, order files. A saved recipe applies the same rules every time.
The file is sensitive
The browser demo never sends the file anywhere, so nothing leaves your machine to be reviewed.
You need to defend the result
An audit log naming every change and who approved it is stronger evidence than a cleaned file with no history.
The turnaround matters
A file that has to be right this afternoon does not fit a vendor queue.
A reasonable split
Use a service for the genuinely hard one-offs: merging two companies after an acquisition, or reconciling a system nobody documented. Use software for the recurring work, which is most of it.
If you already pay for cleaning every quarter, price the tool against one invoice rather than against zero. Before pricing either option, it is worth reading how data quality tools differ from each other and what data cleaning software actually does to a file.
What the outsourced version costs beyond the invoice
A service is a real answer for an unusual one-off. These are the three things that make it the wrong answer for a file that arrives every month.
What the plans costThe file leaves your control
Somebody outside the company opens your customer list. That is a security review, a contract and usually a data processing agreement before any work starts.
The turnaround is somebody else's queue
The file comes back when the vendor has capacity, which is rarely the afternoon the number was needed for.
The rules stay with the vendor
Nothing about the next export is easier, because the knowledge of how this file gets cleaned lives in another company.
What buying the tool changes
The rules stay with your team, the browser run keeps the file on your own machine, and the second file costs nothing extra to clean.
